At $3.50 each, they're overpriced for what they are, straight emulation. Mame has been a thing since the '90s. https://www.mamedev.org/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MAME
Good. These were terrible. Forced filtering and no integer scaling made these the worst way to play them. Not even Reshade could save them. Here's hoping they come to Arcade Archives instead.

king_kunat: Hey everyone! My apologies for not posting this yesterday, I should have done that.

12 of Retro Classix games (titles developed by Data East and re-published by Ziggurat Interactive) are going to be delisted on April 30th, 2024. The silver lining here is that each of them are discounted -50% until the time of the delisting – here's a link to find them all: https://www.gog.com/promo/retro_classix

And here's a list of the titles:

BAD DUDES VS DRAGONNINJA
Break Thru
Express Raider
Gate of Doom
Heavy Barrel
Joe and Mac: Caveman Ninja
Joe and Mac Returns
Night Slashers
Super Real Darwin
Super Burger Time
Two Crude Dudes
Wizard Fire
Is this delisting for GOG only or does this affect other stores as well?

https://www.gog.com/en/promo/retro_classix Mentions "leaving digital stores", So did Ziggurat Interactive lose their licenses or something?

BreOl72: Well, I only had a marginal interest in them, and I own the only two, that I have any real interest in, as cartridges for my consoles already, so...shrug.
Sorry, I have to say I hate it when people make such unspecific comments… Which of them do you own in physical form?

I think I might regret it later if I do not buy the two Joe & Mac games and maybe Super BurgerTime…

In the other thread covering this it is mentioned they are being pulled from Steam as well, another person stated they have been pulled from consoles as well, I don't have a console so I can't confirm this however.

Update: Went over to Steam and they are indeed being pulled from there as well.

Could you also add this collection to the promotion with a nice 50% discount?

Good question, but why stop there?
Why not ask for these bundles, too?

- https://www.gog.com/en/game/data_east_arcade_pack_1

These two bundles together contain the same eight games as the Arcade Collection.

Of course: anyone who is interested in owning all twelve games, will still have to buy:

- BreakThru,
- Joe & Mac Returns,
- Night Slashers,
and
- Wizard Fire

individually.

So - simply buying all twelve games (or even better yet: only the ones that you like most) from this page https://www.gog.com/en/promo/retro_classix (which has the 49% / 50% discount applied to all twelve games), should be the preferable option (imho).
Yeah, defeinitely seems like a licensing issue. Data East's games have been all over the place since they went bankrupt. At least it's not like these games are hard to find.
Sad to see these go, but on the other hand we did get a massive SNK Neo Geo catalog release not long ago. What's that saying? Retro beggars can't be retro choosers? :P

It seems Data East has the Games licensed to different Companies, on Switch for Example, Joe and Mac Returns is published and ported by another Company (Johnny Turbo's Arcade).
I guess on the Evercade they are licensed directly by the Makers of that Device.

So i am further guessing they could get rereleased some Day by another Company.
At least we can't really complain about missing games preservation.

These games had never been available on PC before, it's all emulations that were brought back to live after Blaze Entertainment revived the licences for their console.

Rather than emulated arcade games a collection of the old DOS and Windows classics would make more sense.

But yes, I bought them all for PC too :)
Thanks for the heads up and sale for em ,got all that I was interested in as a result
