Release the GOG Galaxy client for linux
Why are you ignoring one of the most upvoted wish in your community for years? Linux gaming community will slowly, but steadily grow, no thanks to you, though. Your competitors care way way more about Linux users
I know this isn't the answer to why GOG has not release a linux version. But I was able to install GOG Galaxy through Lutris with no issues. And every game plays just as well as on windows.
I run Arch Linux, but i am sure it will work the same on any distro.
Not only avoiding buying games on GOG, now I'm considering buying on Steam games that I ALREADY have on GOG! XCOM2, for example, has a native Linux client on Steam, but on GOG there's only the WIN version...
If you're a steam deck or regular linux user, migrate on steam. Gog don't care about us, it's hopeless.
I want to buy games from you and not on Steam
If you’re new to crypto investment or have been scammed from crypto investment, This is the best information. Many binary operations are rippers. I invested about 105,000usd then I decided to withdraw after several weeks but the withdrawal wasn’t successful, then I tried to contact the binary operation email and phone number, but I didn’t get any response from them that was when everything started looking weird. Some weeks later I got an email from them insisting I should invest more money if I wanted to withdraw my money which I rejected, and I never heard from them again that was when I knew I had been scammed. I was devastated at that moment and felt so bad that my hard-earned money was gone. After some months I came across a lot of testimonies on many bitcoin sites about how Fastfundrecovery8 @ GMAIL com had helped many people recover their stolen, scammed, or duped money on bitcoin or any other form of digital currency. I contacted them and they promised to help me get my money back and asked me for some personal details about the scammer which I provided. The result was amazing I recovered all my stolen money back within 48 hours I was so happy as I never believed I could get my money back. Thank you for restoring Joy into my life after much pain I’m so indebted!! You can contact them via their mail or WhatsApp ( 19037176241)

+1 I often buy games on Steam only because of this.
Hey I'd love the GOG Galaxy Client for Linux, like a simple .deb package I can install. I'd help out by offering feedback when using the software and reporting any bugs be them linux related or not, but I'd greatly enjoy this.
Thank you guys at GOG.

The problem of no official support is everything that is around it.
We can get band-aids, but that's it, it doesn't remove the core problem.
If they don't want to make their own launcher, could they at least work with the guys making Heroic and the tools around it? Official support on thing like linux cloud saves would be super cool.
With Valve basically carrying the entire linux ecosystem, it's hard to not want to buy there, especially when everything just works so well.
Look. Having a Linux client would be fantastic, but not having one is not the crippling detriment some of you seem to think it is. Get Lutris. Lutris can interface with your GoG library, and it can download and install your library games. On top of that, if you don't want Lutris to make your life easier, but have at least a fourth-grade reading comprehension and a little bit of BASH know-how, it's not hard to make a couple scripts that create a WINE prefix, installs the game into it, and runs it. It's not rocket science. And yes, I know we don't all like Steam because they can be real policy dicks sometimes, but if the game is available on Steam, go get it there - Steam will do the same thing as Lutris - it will create a prefix, install the game and any dependencies, and gives you a centralized location from which to run it. Personally, I think some of you are "making much ado about nothing" - to quote Shakespeare.
This request is now almost NINE YEARS OLD! Imagine how much money GOG have lost already!
I stopped buying on GOG a few years ago because I switched to Linux and GoG Galaxy has no Linux version. Shame, because until then I always came to GOG to buy games before looking anywhere else.

I play on linux and i have so much problems to start a game from gog. I bought 2 games again on epic and steam and could play them without problems, so its definitly a gog problem.
Very sad, that such a great sourch of drm free games have so less interesst in supporting gamin on linux

GOG and Linux should be an instant match, yet there's no client for Linux. The philosophies of open source and game preservation go hand in hand. Release a flatpak, please.
so much content i dont buy from u cause u still have no option for linux usrers
It's really sad that a company passionate about preserving games drm-free doesn't care a bit about their open source brothers and sisters :/
I gave up on this ages ago and the latest release of Heroic games launcher stated they have a partnership with GoG. I don't know if that means they're officially backing it too but it did say that they get a commission for games bought in the GoG store through Heroic. Apparently GoG doesn't care one bit about Linux gamers for the most part so I'm settling for alternatives. I don't buy much from GoG anymore anyway with their promise of "soon" for Linux with Galaxy and then it just disappeared.
and they still haven't added this...
i wonder why they didn't do this yet...
no drm spirit goes linux, don't miss that !
AvatarNg, multiple games on gog have to use gog galaxy to play multiplayer such as quake ii. so yea we need gog galaxy because if nt many multiplayer gog games will not be playable on linux.

How is it that in 2024 there is no GOG for Linux? Old school gamers love Linux, GOG you are missing out!
There's a huge overlap between the people who use Linux and those who care about DRM. It's not a small ask but official client with integrated proton like Steam has would make it so much easier.
use minigalaxy instead, gog don’t bother making it, a miss opportunity!

I definitely +1 this idea! The way that I would do it is to increase the level of integration with Lutris. Lutris, so far, has run everything that I've thrown at it. All of my games, windows or Linux, work great there, but it doesn't connect to GOG's server for achievements or multiplayer.
Heroic sucks, official support would go a long way here.
The only thing preventing me from moving more towards GOG is that there isn't even a Linux client for Galaxy. Thought I'd check back in in 2024, but it looks like nothing changed. Real shame ...
+1 I switched to Debian 2 years ago and I would like to play Good Old Games. :) Lutris is nice but a GoG client would be better.

I switched to Linux entirely and i wish i could just download games through GOG. I wanted to support the devs of Cyberpunk 2077 directly but now, from a perspective, i would rather have my game on Steam.

Make a gui in gtk that allow for downloads, cloud-saves and achievements -- It doesn't have to be pretty, open source or have a built-in shop. But pleeeeease!
I'm currently on a Chromebook that can also use the Steam Beta. He's being asked for, just so it. r_r
